Holiday Bulbs for the 'Burbs

Holiday Bulbs for the 'Burbs

Can you feel it? The days are getting shorter and Starbucks lines are getting longer. Time to put away the kiddie pools and break out the pumpkins. And you know what that means! That’s right - the holiday season is right around the corner, meaning it’s time to get started on planning out your Christmas lights

It’s a tedious process to put up those holiday decorations—designing the layout, dealing with the snow, climbing the house, hosting the relatives, and of course, figuring out which lights are best. 1000Bulbs.com takes all the guesswork out of the last one. All you have to decide is what kind of holiday lights tickle your fancy. The common argument is incandescent lights versus LED lights. Both are great options with their own merit. Let us explain.

Incandescent Lights:

Incandescent lights are classic. They give off a warm glow that would make any home look festive at a cheerful price compared to LEDs. If you’re decorating on a budget or you just need a small accent, then incandescent lights are your go-to. However, they do have some drawbacks—their life span and straightforwardness. While they will last multiple holiday seasons, LEDs last much longer. Plus, in most cases, these simple beauties offer no fancy strobe effects or color changes.

LED Lights:

LED lights will keep you singing all year long. They’re efficient, bright, easy to use, and much safer than incandescent lights. LEDs require less power than incandescent lights keeping the holiday season green. They also offer a wider arrangement of colors, hues, and effects. Unlike incandescent lights, LEDs can be strung together to extend the strand of lights all the way up your chimney without having to find another extension cord. Incandescent bulbs also emit a fair bit more heat compared to LEDs making them a little more difficult to work with if they’ve been on for a while. All this to say that the only significant downside to LEDs is their price.

Conclusions:

How do you see your home bedecked in Christmas lights this season?  If you just have a small area to decorate, then consider an affordable strand of incandescent lights. But  LEDs would be a better choice if you’re looking for sparkling lights that last a lifetime— giving you options to expand and alternate colors every year.
