Battery Operated Lights to the Rescue!

No outlet, no problem. Battery operated lights are here to save the day! Low maintenance and easy to use, these lights are great at providing spaces with flexible illumination.

Night Lights

Waking up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom can be annoying. Worse than that is knocking your big toe against the leg of your bed and having to turn on your overhead light while hopping around on one foot. If you were sleepy before, you’re probably awake now!

Instead of bumping about at night, consider installing battery powered LED night lights with motion sensors. These wireless night lights can be placed along your footpath, which minimizes the amount of light you’re exposed to, helping you remain in a restful state. The best thing about these lights is they have an automatic shut off feature which prevents them from turning on during the day. Try placing a couple of the lights near the corners of the walls surrounding your bed, in the restroom near the toilet paper dispensary, or in the kitchen for those evenings you’re tiptoeing to the fridge to grab a spoonful of chocolate ice cream. They’re also weather resistant, so you can place them around the porch, front walkway, and other outdoor high traffic areas. Another option you may find helpful is creating a DIY lantern using battery operated string lights to keep on your nightstand. Place the lights inside an actual lantern, or a mason jar. For quick accessibility in turning the lights on and off to keep from screwing and unscrewing the lid, consider drilling a hole into the mason jar lid or leaving it off completely.

Wedding Reception Birdcage Centerpiece

Second to the food, centerpieces are one of the most important parts of making your wedding reception unforgettable. If you’re interested in going the DIY route, try using energy efficient battery operated LED mini light strings and placing them inside your birdcages with fresh cut flowers or winding the string around the wire cage. You can also use battery operated LED candles inside the cages with flowers surrounding the candle.  Other options you may want to consider are incorporating Christmas ornaments with stringers that match your wedding theme colors.

Battery Operated Lights for Your Closet

Rummaging through your closet for your favorite pair of running shoes early in the morning with sleep lingering on your eyelids isn’t exactly a good time. To aid in finding your footwear and other items in your closet consider draping warm white or pure white battery operated Christmas lights along the back wall and around the opening of your closet door. Command hooks may be helpful to keep the lights in place.

For overhead lighting, try mounting LED motion sensor ceiling lights. Inexpensive and easy to post, these circular battery operated lights turn on when motion is detected, and shut off automatically after thirty seconds of inactivity. This may be especially helpful for those of us who often forget to hit the switch.
